(A scrap from the weekly tablod, Wasilah, on the latest of what is going on in Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka (DBP).)
Comment:
According to someone in DBP he heard a TV newscaster mentioning Dato' Dr. Firdaus Abdullah's name as Prof. Dato' Firdaus Abdullah. He said, "Don't tell me our Ketua Pengarah has returned to lecturing. Is he no more with DBP?"
I'm sure there is an explanation to this. He said, "Our Chairman, Dato' Johan Jaafar will be looking into it. After all some say Dato' Johan's position as chairman has been extended for another two years."
So, What say GAPENA and the whole bunch of Malaysian writers who rely heavily on DBP for their books and royalties. Or even more, what say the ministry in-charge of DBP? Pretty certain, there are lots of important executive decisions to be done which are still unattended due to the absence of the Director General.
